Chicago Police Shoot Bat-Wielding Attacker Monday Morning
The man was beating another man on the ground and wouldn't stop, police said.

A bat-wielding man who was attacking another man on the North Side was shot by a Chicago police officer at about 4 a.m. Monday. Police responded to a report of a fight in the 1500 block of North Halsted on the North Side, in the Goose Island neighborhood, where they encountered one man beating another on the ground with a baseball bat, according to Chicago Police News Affairs. When told to drop the bat, the man continued to beat the other man, police said, and the officer fired to protect the man on the ground. Both men were taken to a hospital.
