Coming Soon: Takito Kitchen Puts Twist on 'Modern Tacos'
Set to soon join local restaurants such as Big Star and Antique Taco is Wicker Park's Takito Kitchen, a Mexican-inspired concept driven by a renown Chicago chef.
A new taqueria will soon expand Wicker Park's growing list of available ceviche, soups and handmade tortillas.
At the helm of the "modern taco" soon-to-open Takito Kitchen is David Dworshak, who was previously at Carnivale, according to Crain's Chicago Business. The restaurant is set to open in March, though a formal date had not yet been made public as of Tuesday.
Moving into the space vacated by Sabor Saveur at 2013 W. Division St., it's along the southern border of the Wicker Park community.

“Our food will be seasonal and will support local farmers and producers,” Dworshak, Takito's executive chef and partner, said in a press release. “Our main focus of artisanal tacos lends itself to endless possibilities of ingredients, accompaniments and salsas. Aside from tacos, our plates will be intended for sharing, geared toward a more creative and healthier style of Latin American food."

The story lists menu items including Yucatecan-style chicken soup with plantains and recado verde as well as a Lamb "Queso Fundido" Taco with jicama escabeche and serrano herb salsa. Craft cocktails made with high-end rum and tequilas will also be served.
Dworshak was the head chef of Carnivale for the past two years. He is working with Anshul Mangal and restauranteur Mario Ponce on his new project.
The restaurant should seat a many as 75 people.
