Dimo’s Pizza Brings Quirky Combos to Six Corners

Get ready for pizzas topped with s’mores, chicken 'n waffles and steak nachos, because popular Wrigleyville staple Dimo’s Pizza is headed to the heart of Wicker Park.

Located at 1615 N. Damen Ave., the pizzeria will be just steps from the community's famed Six Corners, where it'll dish up both unique and classic pizza flavors. Owner Dimitri Syrkin-Nikolau was approved for a building permit on Dec. 27, and a liquor license on Nov. 7, according to city of Chicago data.

Construction crews said the more than $150,000 interior remodel of the restaurant will take about two months. Other than that, Syrkin-Nikolau is keeping details under wraps.

"We’re actually really excited about this new space, but to be honest, we’ve got a little bit of an unveiling process we’re planning to go through,” he said. “The city requires us to have the licenses up in the window there. We wish we didn’t need to do that."

The owner says he plans to release more information periodically as they get closer to an opening date. But based on the Wrigleyville spot, which now has almost 4,500 Facebook fans, pizza enthusiasts can get a rough sense of what to expect.

The restaurant’s menu is split into different flavors, like classic pizza toppings, Backyard BBQ and Comida Caliente.

The massive selection has almost 50 different types of pizza diners can choose from. They range in cost from about $12 to $28.

Dimo's was once Chicago's only Ian’s Pizza, a now-franchised company with equally quirky flavors and four locations in Milwaukee and Madison. However, when the chain made the move toward franchising, Syrkin-Nikolau said he needed to make a choice.

"We have the utmost respect for Ian's," he said. "They do a lot of great things up in Wisconsin. But in the end, they decided to go in a direction that differed from ours. We’ve continued to build our company locally, and we couldn't be more excited about the future."

The pizzeria has been operating in Chicago for four years.

Based on comments from construction crews on the scene, Dimo’s is slated to open in about two months.
