Get Involved: Police Host Wicker Park CAPS Meeting Wednesday
Officers are gathering in Wicker Park Wednesday to discuss the neighborhood and its recent crimes.

One of the best ways to prevent local crime and stay "in the know" about what's going on in your neighborhood is to get involved.
Chicago Police Department officers will be holding a CAPS meeting Wednesday night for beat No. 1424. The meeting kicks off at 7 p.m. in the Wicker Park Field House, 1425 W. Damen Ave.
"Your commitment to our neighborhood and the CAPS program has made both Wicker Park, and the Beat what it is," Beat Facilitator—and Wicker Park resident—Mark Amundson said, in a note to residents.
"CAPS" stands for Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy. The program launched in Chicago in 1993 as a pilot and was later expanded across the city. Its goal is to marry traditional policing strategies with alternative ones, encouraging residents and police to work together to reduce crimes.
