Mott Street Adds 'Night Market' Menu to Wicker Park

The owners of Ruxbin are adding another eatery to the neighborhood. Mott Street will open later this year on Ashland Avenue—see what's on the menu.

An experimental dinner with good results and has turned into a new restaurant in Wicker Park. Ruxbin partners Edward and Vicki Kim are adding another eatery to their three-year-old craft food concept.

Time Out Chicago predicts a spring opening for the new restaurant—called Mott Street—at 1401 N. Ashland Ave. The location was the former home of MC Bistro.

The new restaurant will be less than a mile from Ruxbin and fit about 100 people between the inside and an outdoor patio. Also new with this venue is a bar. While Ruxbin doesn’t serve drinks, Mott Street will have a cocktail and beer program.

The name comes from Mott Street in New York, a popular destination when Edward Kim studied at New York University. And to add flavor, the Korean word for “taste” sounds like “mott.”

The future food of Mott Street was previewed in a dinner series earlier in 2012. Street food will join a crab boil and late-night snack foods on the “night market” menu.
