'Mummy Bandit' Hits Wicker Park for Fourth Bank Robbery

Police say a man wearing a construction vest robbed the North Community Bank in Wicker Park Tuesday, making it his fourth branch since December.

A bank robber hit his fourth North Community Bank branch on Tuesday in Wicker Park, police said.

At about 4:30 p.m., a man demanded money from the bank teller at the North Community Bank, 2000 W. Division St. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the man fled on foot, according to an officer with the Chicago Police Department of News Affairs. The man did not imply he had a weapon and no injuries were reported.

The FBI dubbed the man the "Mummy Bandit" because he wears a white scarf covering his face and a construction safety vest. Police describe the suspect as a 6-foot-3 white man, 230 pounds between 27 and 30 years old. During robberies, he has been seen wearing dark jeans, dark shoes and a light-colored hoodie with the construction vest, according to Bandit Tracker Chicago
