No Bail For Man Accused Of Breaking Judge's Window With Snowball
The 36-year-old Logan Square man allegedly called the judge a rat from his car in an earlier incident, prosecutors say.

CHICAGO, IL — A Logan Square man who allegedly yelled profanities at a Cook County judge is accused of throwing snowballs that broke a window at the openly gay official's home in a separate incident, according to the Chicago Tribune. Michael Laureto, 36, of the 1700 block of North Campbell Avenue, was ordered held without bail Tuesday after he was charged with threatening a public official and criminal damage to property, the report added.
According to prosecutors, the window-breaking incident happened Sunday, Feb. 18, at the home of Judge Susan Miller, the report stated. Miller and her wife were inside when they heard glass shatter and discovered the window had been broken by someone throwing ice and snow at it, the report added.
Prosecutors said Miller and Laureto had a run-in with one another a day earlier while the judge, who is running for judge in the 6th Subcircuit in March's primary election, was posting a campaign sign at friend's home in the 1600 block of North Campbell Avenue, the report stated. According to prosecutors, Laureto allegedly cursed at Miller and called her a rat from his car window as he drove by, the report added.

After he got the judge's attention, Laureto then allegedly told her that "she better watch out," the Tribune reports.
Court records don't show a previous courtroom history between Laureto and Miller. In 2014, Miller completed a court-ordered supervision in connection with a misdemeanor battery charge he pleaded guilty to, according to the Tribune.

In ordering Laureto held without bail, Judge Ursula Walowski — who handled Tuesday's hearing after Judge David Navarro recused himself from the case, citing his friendship with Miller, who was appointed last year — said she made that ruling because he presents a danger to the public, the report stated.
