UPDATED: Suspected Serial Robber Chase Ends in Shooting (VIDEO)
The suspect was shot at the corners of Milwaukee, Damen and North avenues early Wednesday after he reportedly robbed a Subway restaurant.

A police chase that started in River North ended in Bucktown around midnight Wednesday, when officers reportedly shot a man suspected in a series of North Side armed robberies.
The man was stopped at Six Corners—on the Bucktown-Wicker Park border where Milwaukee, North and Damen avenues cross—after robbing a Subway restaurant on State Street near Chicago Avenue, according to the Chicago Tribune. Police said he may be behind more than a dozen other North Side robberies.
They released photos Feb. 5 of the wanted suspect, saying he committed the crimes at various businesses between Jan. 18 and Feb. 3. Of those incidents, four were within Lincoln Park. One was listed as being in Lake View while another still was in Roscoe Village, according to the report.

Chicago Police News Affairs officers said Wednesday that the investigation regarding whether the man arrested earlier that day is responsible for the prior robberies was ongoing. They did not deny the possibility of his involvement, however.

Officers caught up with him after they located an SUV matching the description of the one fleeing Subway, according to reports. When confronted by police, the man backed into a squad car, the Tribune story said. The suspect reportedly later tried driving over an officer.
That’s when police shot the man, leaving him with non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital, according to an NBC report.
