To my fellow constituents,
I am writing as an advocate for the Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter, in honor of my grandmother, Catherine “Marice” McGuire. Grandma Marice was a brilliant, resilient, and ever-optimistic woman who fought valiantly against Alzheimer’s disease. Sadly, despite her strength and courage, we lost her to this devastating illness. Watching her gradual decline was heartbreaking for my family, and it filled us with immense grief and sadness. Unfortunately, our story is not unique—many families across Illinois and the nation are facing the same struggle.
As someone who has been advocating for two years and previously served as a committee member for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, I have seen firsthand the toll this disease takes, not only on those diagnosed but also on their loved ones. Alzheimer's doesn’t just steal memories—it steals time, connections, and life itself. And yet, I continue to advocate because I firmly believe that together, we can end this disease.

By investing in research funding and prioritizing Alzheimer’s policies over the last decade, Congress has helped us enter the era of treatment – where we now have two FDA-approved treatments for the early stages of Alzheimer’s. To end this disease once and for all, Congress must stay committed to our mission. That is why I am asking my Representative Delia Ramirez to increase research funding by $318 million and vote to pass the NAPA Reauthorization Act, Alzheimer’s Accountability and Investment Act, and BOLD Reauthorization Act.
We have made incredible progress, but we cannot stop now. Join me in asking Congress, including our Representative Ramirez to continue investing in Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. Increased funding will provide hope for families like mine and millions of others who live under the weight of this disease every day. With your help, we can create a future where Alzheimer's is no longer a part of our collective story.
