A popular Wicker Park barbecue restaurant has doubled in size. The business held a grand opening on Thursday.
Smoke Daddy has officially doubled in size and although workers were still putting the finishing touches on the new area Thursday afternoon, the space opened for business.
The barbecue hotspot at 1804 W. Division St. now seats about 80 to 100 people, the restaurant's manager, Carlo Carani, said. Staff were blowing up balloons around noon in preparation for its 5 p.m. grand opening, which showcased the new digs.

The new construction features a glass atrium and rustic, wooden accents. The space was connected to the adjacent, existing Smoke Daddy building by knocking out a primary wall located behind the bar, which now wraps into the new side.
Skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows provide a wealth of natural light in the new area.

"It's a growing area and the demand for seating was growing," Carini said while construction was still under way.
