Wicker Park Home to Most Interesting Mac n’ Cheese, Expert Says
Two area restaurants made the cut after a mac n' cheese expert (yes, there is such a thing) compiled a list of her favorite and most interesting dishes in Chicago.

When on the hunt for Chicago’s most unique and interesting plates of mac ‘n cheese, look no further than Wicker Park.
Mac n’ Cheese expert Kristen Kuchar toured the city for the online foodie publication Eater Chicago and rounded up 14 of the most interesting ways restaurants are serving up the delicious dish.
What makes Kuchar an expert? The Chicago native recently toured the city with a craving for mac n’ cheese and recently released her first book, Mac 'N Cheese to the Rescue.
On her list includes both Handlebar, coming in 10th place, and The Fifty/50, landing in 14th place. The winner of “Most Interesting” went to Dimo’s Pizza in Lake View, a restaurant currently building their second location in Bucktown at 1615 N. Damen Ave.
Here’s what Kuchar has to say about the two in Wicker Park:
Handlebar
2311 W. North Ave.“Chili Mac Attack!” Smoked gouda mac n’ cheese swims in spicy veggie chili, aged cheddar, sour cream, pickled jalapenos and topped with crispy tortilla crisps.
The Fifty/50
2047 W. Division St.“The Four-Courser” This appropriately-named sandwich consists of applewood smoked pulled pork shoulder, deep-fried jalapenos, sweet potato chips, a mac n’ cheese waffle and barbecue sauce loaded onto a pretzel bun. Wow.
