Wicker Park Toy Store Closing, Holds Liquidation Sale

A local toy store will soon be shuttering its doors. But not before an all-inclusive liquidation sale.

In the wake of an announcement that it's going out of business, a Wicker Park toy store is liquidating its inventory this month.

Red and yellow signs reading "total inventory blowout" pepper the storefront at Kids Rule, 1534 N. Milwaukee Ave. An employee working inside said the owner will likely be shuttering the doors at the end of the month.

The store has been in business for just one year.

"It's been a really rough year," said the employee, who noted that her brother owns the store.

The owner was not present when Patch stopped by and did not return phone calls or e-mails this week. Merchandise inside Kids Rule is for sale at a deep discount—in some cases, 75 percent off.
