Zen Noodles Closes, Turns to Thai With New Owners

Manee Thai will open in Wicker Park in place of suddenly-closed Zen Noodles.

Zen Noodles quietly closed its doors at the end of March, but Asian food is not disappearing from 1852 W. North Avenue in Wicker Park.

Manee Thai will open in its place by the end of April, owners say, bringing together several Asian cuisines.

Just like the building, cuisine will transition from Zen Noodles’ satays and stir-frys to Thai curries and shrimp in a clay pot.

But Manee Thai will also offer some of the Japanese cuisine that came with Zen Noodles. Sushi and maki are on the restaurant’s menu.

Pan Canphanich and his partner Wanda bought the restaurant from the owners of Zen Noodles, who had been in the location since the early 2000s.

Wicker Park will be the third location of Manee Thai. The other locations are in Old Irving Park at 3558 N. Pulaski Rd. and Noble Square at 1546 W. Chicago Ave. And like the other two locations, patrons can order their meal online for delivery.
