3 Buffalo Grove Residents Honored With Caring Community Program Awards: Village
Bi-annual presentations take place during Village Board Committee of the Whole meetings held in February and August.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — As part of its Caring Community Program, the Village of Buffalo Grove recently awarded three residents with awards. According to officials, the program celebrates individuals, groups, organizations, and programs in Buffalo Grove that embody the community's "Smart. With Heart" brand.
"This initiative recognizes outstanding contributions that enhance the quality of life, demonstrate leadership, and reflect the values of collaboration, compassion, and innovation within Buffalo Grove and beyond," the Village says on its website.

Adhya Garlapati
Adhya Garlapati is a remarkable young leader whose dedication to service and innovation embodies the Village’s “Smart. With Heart.” values. As the founder of the 4C STEM Club, a nonprofit she launched at just 12 years old, she has engaged hundreds of local students in projects focused on environmental sustainability—from prairie restoration to recycling initiatives. Her work fosters collaboration, creativity, and compassion among youth. In addition to leading her nonprofit, Adhya contributes to the Buffalo Grove Prairie Gardeners and Environmental Action Team, reinforcing her deep commitment to community and environmental stewardship. With over 150 hours of service annually, she has earned multiple national honors for leadership and volunteerism, making a lasting impact on Buffalo Grove and beyond.
Gina Kapinos
Gina Kapinos is a shining example of everyday compassion and community spirit. As a devoted mother and caregiver, she supports the development and success of her daughter with special needs, while also making a difference in the lives of neighbors—offering daily support to a family impacted by dementia and stepping in wherever help is needed, from home safety to tech fixes. Gina’s generosity extends into her professional role as Finance Manager of Special Gifts Theatre, where she champions inclusion for individuals with disabilities. She dedicates countless volunteer hours to performances and fundraising efforts, ensuring these transformative programs thrive. Gina’s selfless efforts have enriched lives across Buffalo Grove.
Rob Klawans
Rob Klawans has become an indispensable part of GiveNKind’s operations, volunteering three days a week since 2022 to help distribute millions of dollars in donated goods to over 750 nonprofits across the region. After a long career in trading, Rob has brought his work ethic, reliability, and energy into service, earning the 2024 Presidential Volunteer Gold Service Award for over 500 hours of volunteer time. In addition to his warehouse leadership, Rob serves on GiveNKind’s Board of Directors, offering critical insight into logistics, finance, and long-term strategy. His steady commitment and thoughtful contributions have expanded the organization’s impact and helped ensure vital resources reach neighbors in need throughout Buffalo Grove and the greater Chicagoland area.
