Congregation Beth Am will soon be on the move.

The congregation is preparing to relocate its offices and meeting space about two miles north to 1370 Abbott Court in Buffalo Grove.

“It is a bittersweet time for us. I, like all of us, am so very sad to have to say good-bye to our sanctuary and our beautiful building,” Rabbi Lisa Sari Bellows wrote in the congregation’s May newsletter.

Meanwhile, Sunday school and Hebrew school will be housed in one of School District 21’s buildings, Rabbi Richard Prass told members of the congregation’s Facebook group.

To prepare for the move, Congregation Beth Am will hold a “Moving & Treasure Sale” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 9. Items for sale will include artwork, office and classroom supplies, desks, books, tables and chairs and more, according to an event posted on Patch.

The current Congregation Beth Am building has been purchased for $3.7 million by the Buffalo Grove Park District, which will convert it into a performing arts center with a 500-seat theater. The park district will take occupancy in July and plans to open the facility to the public next year.
