LINCOLNSHIRE, IL — For generations, local families and those from afar have been visiting Didier Farms every fall for its annual Pumpkinfest. Unfortunately, it looks like 2022 was the last chance to do it as the Lincolnshire business announced Wednesday it is closing permanently.

"We are saddened to say that Halloween was bittersweet, as it was the last day of our retail business," The Didier Family said in a Facebook social media post.

Pumpkinfest, which ran from Sept. 17 to Oct. 30, made Didier Farms a popular fall destination in Chicagoland. With the sale of pumpkins and doughnuts, along with family-friendly activities, 16678 W. Aptakisic Road was the spot to be for many.

Didier Farms also sold fresh, locally grown vegetables at its farmstand and flowers out of its greenhouse.

"It's sad to see a business that's been a staple in our community for as long as we can remember will be moving on," Dorfler's Meat Market said in a social media post. The Buffalo Grove business has been carrying produce from Didier Farms for many years.

The farm was originally purchased by John Link in 1912, according to the Didier Farms' website. In 1948, his daughter, Mary Sue, married Herb Didier. The Didier Family then began raising sweet corn, cabbage, along with their children. After Herb died in 1993, the farm continued to be run by family members.
