Fitness Center Tweaks Operations Amid Coronavirus Mitigations

Buffalo Grove Park District officials said the Fitness Center will remain open with its current hours of operation.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — With Tier 3 coronavirus mitigations in the state set to go into effect Friday, the Buffalo Grove District announced some changes at the Fitness Center.

Park District officials said the Fitness Center is not closing and will continue to operate under its current hours: 5 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 a.m. through 7:30 p.m. Friday, and 6 a.m. through 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Under the Tier 3 mitigations, guidelines for health and fitness centers include:

  • Operate at no more than 25 percent capacity
  • No indoor group classes
  • Face coverings must be worn at all times, including while engaged in individual exercise regardless of person or machine spacing
  • Reservations required
  • Locker room areas should be closed

The Park District said its online reservation system will change to allow members to reserve a block of time in either the a.m. or p.m. hours, and be able to show up at any time during that block. The a.m. block is from 5 a.m. -noon, and the p.m. lock is noon to 9 p.m.

  • The lap pool and indoor track will remain open.
  • Personal and reformer training will remain available.
  • Many live group exercise classes will be held outdoors, as weather permits.
  • Virtual group exercise classes are also available.
  • Pickleball will be available; but, face coverings must be worn during play.
