Illinois Special Olympics Awards Lake County Sheriff’s Office

From Plunge Illinois: On February 3, 2017, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office proudly received the ‘Gold Medal’ from the Special Olympics - Illinois Chapter. Corrections officers, sheriff’s deputies, reserve deputies, and other members of the sheriff’s office raised $19,334.98 for the Special Olympics in 2016.

Members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office participate in many Special Olympic fundraising events throughout the year. On February 26, 2017, members of the sheriff’s office will participate in the ‘Polar Plunge.’

Sheriff Mark Curran said, “It’s unbelievably rewarding for us to give back to the community. Special Olympics is a terrific organization and we are happy to help support its mission.”

Undersheriff Ray Rose said, “I couldn’t be more proud of our staff and the community for all of their contributions to this cause. Deputy David McNichol does an excellent job organizing the Special Olympics events held throughout the year.”
