Many Northwest Suburban Runners Safe After Boston Marathon
A Buffalo Grove woman, a Vernon Hills trustee, runners from Stevenson High School and Arlington Heights' newly elected mayor are all safe after completing Monday's Boston Marathon.

A number of local Boston Marathon runners have been reported safe since explosions rocked the finish line April 15 as athletes completed the race.
Among those unharmed were Buffalo Grove resident Jeannette Legge, who finished the race less than 15 minutes before the explosions occurred, her husband told Patch. Also safe is Vernon Hills Trustee Michael Marquardt, who had completed the race and learned about the explosions after he returned to his hotel room, the Daily Herald reported.
Newly elected Arlington Heights Mayor Tom Hayes was also uninjured, Arlington Heights Patch reported.
