National Bike Month Opportunities in Buffalo Grove

Tune up your bicycle and hit Buffalo Grove's trails in May, and attend a meeting this week to provide input to the village.

Communities across the nation, including Buffalo Grove, recognize May as National Bike Month.

The month also includes May 8 as Bike to School Day, May 13-17 as Bike to Work Week and May 17 as Bike to Work Day.

But Buffalo Grove offers plenty of other, unofficial, opportunities to leave the car behind and put your feet to the pedals. The village offers more than 50 miles of 8-foot wide paths and sidewalks, according to its website. Organized rides are scheduled by the Wheeling Wheelmen, or cyclists can hit the trails on their own.

Are you a trail user who wants to see improvements to the system? The Village of Buffalo Grove will hold a public meeting from 7-8:30 p.m. May 2 at Village Hall, where citizens can provide input on improvements to the bike and pedestrian paths.
