Stevenson H.S. Grad Brunson Named NBA All-Star For 1st Time

The New York Knicks guard, a 2015 graduate of Adlai E. Stevenson, was named a reserve Thursday for the Eastern Conference.

LINCOLNSHIRE, IL — For the first time in his six-year NBA career, Jalen Brunson is an All-Star. The 2015 Adlai E. Stevenson graduate was named a reserve for the Eastern Conference Thursday, according to the league.

Brunson, 27, plays point guard for the New York Knicks, currently third in the Eastern Conference standings with a 31-17 record. The Knicks, second in the Atlantic Division, are on a nine-game winning streak. The latest victory came Thursday night, 109-105, over the Indiana Pacers. Brunson scored 40 points in the win.

Teammate Julius Randle was also named an All-Star reserve.

In 46 games for the Knicks, Brunson is averaging a career-high 26.8 points per game and 6.5 assists.

Brunson was a two-time Illinois Boys Basketball Gatorade Player of the year at Stevenson, and led the school to its first state title (2015), before going on to more stardom at Villanova University. With the Wildcats, Brunson won two national championships.
