Three Long Grove Candidates Have 'Necessary Experience'

Letter to the editor

I have lived in Long Grove for 17 years and am writing in support of George Yaeger, Lori Lyman and John Marshall for Long Grove Trustees in the April 9th election. This election is of extreme importance due to the village issues at hand.

All three of these individuals have proven their commitment to our community. They received the Endorsement from the Daily Herald, which states: “All three candidates…are experienced, knowledgeable, articulate and dedicated to the community.” They have the necessary experience to help revitalize our downtown. Combined they have lived in Long Grove for 62 years.

With level heads, Yaeger, Lyman and Marshall will present options on the road maintenance that can be debated and scrutinized by village residents. There won’t be biased or misleading statements on the financial state of the village for self-serving election purposes. These candidates state the facts without false accusations and rhetoric.

There is a fourth person; challenger, running for one of the three Trustee openings. This challenger has a poor track record of showing up to meetings in his current position of Park District Board member. This is an elected position. He can’t randomly decide when and if he wants to show up.

The challenger’s finger pointing and negative comments in recent interviews portrays him as arrogant and an ineffective contrarian. It’s important to ask tough questions, but he just seems to blame others without understanding the details of each situation proving ignorance on his part.

It is going to take leadership, professional savvy and strong relations with the community, business district and developers to move us forward. This is time for experienced and well respected community leaders with solid reputations and track records of working to improve our community. As independent thinkers Yaeger, Lyman and Marshall bring diverse expertise in the engineering, design and building fields, which will compliment the existing Board members backgrounds.

I am grateful to George Yaeger, Lori Lyman and John Marshall for stepping up at this critical time in our history and showing leadership and educated factual knowledge of the issues.
