You're Invited: Watch Buffalo Grove's New Police Chief Get Sworn In

Steven Casstevens will assume leadership of the department on June 10. The community is also invited to reception in his honor on June 17.

Buffalo Grove's new police chief will officially take the reins at 9 a.m. June 10, when Steven Casstevens is sworn into his position at 9 a.m. at the police station.

The ceremony will be open to the public. Casstevens replaces Steve Balinski, who retired April 2. Deputy Chief Steve Husak has led the department for the past two months.

Village Manager Dane Bragg said he is looking forward to a new beginning in the Buffalo Grove Police Department.

“We are excited to welcome Steve to the organization and to the community. I believe he shares the values and priorities of our village and will forge a new era for the Buffalo Grove Police Department," Bragg said.

A public reception will be held for Casstevens from 6:30-7:30 p.m. June 17 at Village Hall.
