Fire Crews Extinguish Hedge Road Residential Fire Over Holiday Weekend
There were no firefighter or occupant injuries reported in the Monday evening fire.

The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire outside a home at 1613 Hedge Road, Monday, September 7, 2020, at 2:31 p.m.

Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire that began outside the single-family residence. Firefighters responded to a report of a fire outside this single-story home. Once on the scene, fire crews reported smoke and fire coming from the side of the residence.
Firefighters deployed a single hose line and extinguished the fire found outside the home. Crews moved into the garage and extinguished the fire just beginning to extend into the attic. The cause of this fire is undetermined as investigators remain on the scene conducting their investigation. There were no firefighter or occupant injuries reported.

Three people were home at the time of the fire and were outside when firefighters arrived. The occupants will be displaced as a result of the damage. The Champaign Fire Department reminds all citizens to maintain a working smoke alarm in their place of residence and to have and practice a home escape plan. Smoke alarms can provide early notification when seconds count.
