IDOT To Begin Work On Prospect Avenue Railroad Crossing
The area between Maple and Vine will close Aug. 24.
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that Prospect Avenue between Maple Street and Vine Street in Champaign will close Aug. 24. The closure is necessary for the Canadian National Railway to replace its crossing. No traffic will be allowed through the closure during the work, which is expected to last seven to 10 days. A detour will be posted.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
