Jimmy John's Owner Pays For IL Shoppers' Walmart Layaway Items

Jimmy John Liautaud paid off $81,000 in Walmart layaways at several Illinois stores.

CHAMPAIGN, IL β€” The season of giving continues as Walmart shoppers at locations across Champaign, Savoy and Urbana were gifted with the ultimate surprise Monday. All items put on layaway were paid off, thanks to reported secret Santa, Jimmy John's owner Jimmy John Liautaud, WCCU/WICS said.

The layaway items for more than 300 people were paid off, totaling more than $81,000.

That's about the same amount in layaway items Southern rock singer Kid Rock covered at a Tennessee Walmart on Friday. The star, inspired by actor and director Tyler Perry, tried to spread some cheer by paying off the balances of 350 layaway accounts.
