2 Jailed For Motel 6 Laundry Room Stickup and Beating: Cops
A man was just trying to do his laundry when he was beaten and robbed at gunpoint.

A Motel 6 guest was just trying to get his laundry done when two bandits — one armed with a revolver — beat and robbed him early Friday.
The 28-year-old man was in the second-floor laundry room about 12:30 a.m. when the two crooks walked in and asked if he could break a $50 bill.
The guest told them he could not, police said, and the devious duo — identified as DeAndre Wilder, 33, and LaVonte Hughes, 20 — dragged him from the laundry room and proceeded to beat him.

During the beating, Hughes pulled a revolver and Wilder urged his partner-in-crime to “pop him,” police said. But before Hughes could pop anybody, the beaten man reportedly wrestled the gun away.
Hughes got it back and Wilder managed to snatch $30 from the man’s pocket, police said. The two men then reportedly made a run for it.

When the law arrived, officers found the Hughes and Wilder trying to get inside a Dodge Durango driven by a woman who apparently was not involved in the robbery, police said.
Officers reportedly located the revolver, which turned out to have been stolen, on the passenger side floorboards of the woman’s Durango. Hughes had been trying to get in through the passenger side door, police said.
Both Wilder and Hughes are from Joliet, police said. Wilder reportedly told the police he is homeless.
Wilder and Hughes were taken to the Will County jail. Wilder was booked on a charge of armed robbery. Hughes was charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a street gang member, and possession of a stolen firearm.
Police said they have video of the entire attack, as well as several eyewitnesses.
