86-Year-Old Joliet Man Killed in Crash at Larkin and Glenwood

The man turned left in front of an oncoming car, police said.

An 86-year-old Joliet man was killed after he turned in front of an oncoming car on Larkin Avenue.

Gregorio Tilos was pronounced dead shortly after midnight Thursday at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center.

Tilos was driving a 2014 Nissan Versa south on Larkin about 3 p.m. Thursday when he turned left onto Glenwood Avenue. Tilos turned in front of an oncoming 2009 Honda Civic driven by a 63-year-old Joliet woman, police said. The Civic T-boned the Versa.

The light was yellow when Tilos turned and the driver of the Civic had the right-of-way, police said.

Police believe Tilos was not wearing his seatbelt, as he was knocked from behind the wheel over to the passenger side.
