Blackfinn Brawl Leads to 6 Arrests; Investigation Ongoing: Police

Naperville police are currently investigating a brawl that occurred at a popular downtown bar early Sunday morning.

Six people were arrested and one employee was injured after a fight broke out around 1:11 a.m. at BlackFinn American Saloon, 16 W. Jefferson Ave., Sunday, according to police. 

Officers were dispatched to the bar for a report of a fight in progress. Once inside, police saw "numerous subjects fighting" on the third floor of the bar, according to police.   

After an investigation, police arrested Robert M. McIntosh, 25, of Plano; Tyler M. Johnson, 24, of Elgin; Adam Gregoriou, 26, of Naperville and Justin W. Field, 32, of Channahon. The four men were charged with battery and criminal damage to property, according to police.

Officers also arrested Michael F. McNamara, 41, of Minooka and Ronald R. Wood, 38, of Channahon. Both men were charged with battery and resisting arrest, police said. Wood was also charged with criminal damage to property, according to police. 

A seventh unnamed person was treated at Edward Hospital for injuries sustained during the fight. He was released and will be charged at a later date, according to police. 

A Blackfinn employee was also injured during the fight and was treated at the scene. 

According to police, the investigation is ongoing. 

The alleged fight comes less than a week after Naperville City Council discussed safety concerns in the downtown area before approving an additional late-night liquor permit Tuesday for a new downtown bar and restaurant.   

Police Chief Bob Marshall recently said that the addition of any new bar would be a "tipping point" for the department in terms of enforcement efforts.  

Considering the additional liquor permit was approved, police and city officials said they would look into hiring new officers, which takes roughly eight to 10 months.
