Obituary: Alfred J. Weihofen, Jr.
A proud veteran of the United States Army passes away at the age of 91.

Alfred J. Weihofen, Jr.
Alfred J. “Skip” Weihofen, Jr., age 91 of Shorewood, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at River Crossing of Joliet. Skip was born in Chicago on August 6, 1932, the son of the late Alfred J. Sr., and Mae (nee Paul) Weihofen. He was a graduate of Plainfield High School. Skip was a proud veteran of the United States Army where he earned the National Defense Service Medal.

Skip had a long-dedicated career as a TV Repairman, formerly employed with Art Kraus Electronics, Polk Brothers, and Totons TV. He was known for being a very good bowler; he enjoyed riding his bike, and loved walking his dogs. He liked to be out on the water fishing, a passion that he proudly shared with his sons. Above all else, he cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Skip is survived by his two sons, Paul (Lauren) Weihofen and Matthew (Christine Evans) Weihofen; four grandchildren, Jessica (Jesse) Kaech, Albert (Kaitleigh) Weihofen, Joshua Weihofen, and Anthony (Marissa) Weihofen; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Barbara Suma-Fink and Lorraine (Rick) Boyd. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

He is preceded by his wife, Mary Jean Weihofen (nee Egizio); his sister, Paulette Young; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Milo Weihofen; and his parents.
All friends and relatives are invited to celebrate the life of Alfred J. “Skip” Weihofen, Jr. starting with visitation on Monday, October 23, 2023, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church beginning at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
