Obituary: Harry J. Litchfield, Jr.

A proud 25 year volunteer with the Troy Fire Protection District has passed away at the age of 84.

Harry J. Litchfield, Jr.

Harry J. Litchfield, Jr., age 84, formerly of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Park Pointe Healthcare and Rehab Center, Morris.

Born January 7, 1939 in Joliet, he was the son of Harry J. and Dorothy (Alling) Litchfield, Sr. They preceded him in death, along with his wife, Karen (Kubinski) Litchfield (August 2, 2005.)

He worked for the Will County Highway Department for several years prior to becoming a pipefitter for Citgo Petroleum, where he worked over 25 years until retirement. In retirement, he worked for Whitmore Ace Hardware in Wilmington. Harry was also a proud 25 year volunteer with the Troy Fire Protection District.

Earlier in his life he was an avid bowler, played softball, and coached youth baseball. He also enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his children, Lorrie (Donald) Lenzen, Gregory (Heidi) Litchfield and James (Amy) Litchfield; grandchildren, Megan (Tim) Thompson, Lynette (John) Fende, Jennifer Edwards, Erin Litchfield, Devon Thomas, Jase Litchfield, Kenny, Kyle (Stephanie) and Billy Litchfield, Jessica Jones, and Josalyn Smith; many great-grandchildren; his step-children, Kim Darin, Kerry Barnett and Kevin (Tammy) Barnett; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; the mother of his children, H. Patricia Motta; and four cousins.

Visitation for Harry Litchfield, Jr. will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
