Wilmington Man Wants to Know Which Deputies Allegedly Killed His Pet Turkey

A Wilmington man accused Will County deputies of seizing his gun collection and killing his pet turkey, and he wants to know which ones did it.

The lawyer for Douglas Albright petitioned Will County Sheriff Mike Kelley for the identities of the deputies who allegedly killed his turkey. Albright needs to know their names so he can pursue a civil rights lawsuit, said the petition, which was filed by attorney John Schrock.

In June, Albright was “detained by unknown Will County Sheriff deputies and forced to go to Riverside Medical Center for an evaluation,” the petition said.

Albright had been suffering from a bad back and was feeling “down,” Schrock said.

“He said something to his cousin and she interpreted it as a suicidal threat,” he said.

“In the meantime,” Schrock said, “they Tased his turkey and his turkey died.”

The deputies also confiscated some of Albright’s property, including his gun collection, the petition said.

No criminal case was filed against Albright in connection with his encounter with the deputies.
