This concert co-presented by Asian Improv aRts Midwest / Tsukasa Taiko and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago in conjunction with MCA Chicago’s current exhibition, “Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind.” It features the music of Yoko Ono's SKYLANDING, a project recorded by Tatsu Aoki's The MIYUMI Project in 2016 and a collaboration with Yoko Ono for her sculpture in Jackson Park. Together: Dave and Dan Duet, a Gay-Themed Holiday Cabaret with Audience Sing-along
The starring singers, David Stephens and Daniel Johnson, will be performing on Thursday, December 18th, 2025, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 611 Randolph St., Oak Park, IL. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to show.
The show starts at 7:00 pm. Admission is free, but donations for local artists&nbsp;will be graciously accepted.
Together is a Cabaret concert for our turbulent political times, about two entertainers meeting at the 1996 Gay Pride Festival in NYC, and what happens next in their long-term, long-distance relationship, leading to their eventual life together in the Oak Park area. These seasoned cabaret performers will amuse and musically transport the audience with stories about their lives as out Gay men in an…uncommon interracial relationship. The show will include songs by Stephen Sondheim, Cole Porter, Cy Coleman, Dave Frishberg, Rick Ashley and many more from Stage, Screen and TV.
Both David and Daniel are members of Chicago Cabaret Professionals, an advocacy group for the promotion of the art of Cabaret, as well as participants in the Chicago-based arts collective
Working In Concert, in which David served as co-creator and former Managing Director of Black Voices in Cabaret. Their previous solo shows include Soulful Seventies Sounds (David) and Wilde and Woolley (Daniel). They have also produced, directed and performed in Chicago-based musical shows over the past decade, and are long-time members of the Oak Park Area Lesbian and Gay Association (OPALGA+).
Collaborative accompanist for the program will be the celebrated and in-demand pianist/musical director/vocalist, Chicago-based Mark Burnell. Mark is featured in numerous jazz and gospel concerts around the area. We are pleased to have him join us for this performance.

Selected as one of the top 20 best holiday recordings in the New York Times for 2013, saxophonist Tim Warfield's Jazzy Christmas, returns to the Jazz Showcase &nbsp;to showcase a fun collection of traditional holiday songs, realized from an improvisational perspective. The musical programming for this performance, will host a stellar cast, to perform familiar material such as "Joy to the World" and "Silent Night," but will also include a few obscure gems like Claude Thornhill's "Snowfall," and even one Hanukkah song, all in the spirit of the holidays. The arrangements are often quirky, but clearly unique, resourcing as jazz often does, from many other musical genres, while the musicians creatively incorporate the use of rhythmic and harmonic devices as a means to collectively create rich melodic expressions.

Gold Coast Sounds Good Choir

Chicagoland's largest no-audition choral program for adults "55 and better" has nine choirs throughout Chicago and the suburbs, including the Gold Coast. Conducted by Jonathan Miller, the choir rehearses and performs at the beautiful, historic Fourth Presbyterian Church on Chicago's Magnificent Mile, 126 E. Chestnut Ave. Three sessions a year are offered -- two 15-week sessions in the fall and spring, and one 8-week session in the summer). All sessions include: a weekly 90-minute rehearsal with an additional (optional) online Friday rehearsal; guidance and instruction by professional conductors and accompanists; licensed sheet music; accessible rehearsal and performance venues; and free, public performances by each choir. Registered singers are also free to rehearse and perform with as many of the nine choirs as they wish for just one registration fee per session. Scholarships are readily available -- call the Sounds Good office at 630.395.9542 to apply. Sounds Good Choir also offers the only choir in Illinois for adults with early-stage dementia and their care partners. The Good Memories program is specifically designed to provide a safe, welcoming community in which to sing, socialize, and have fun.
