ATF To Assist In Investigation Of Chicago Heights Warehouse Fire

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms will assist in the investigation of a fire at a Chicago Heights metal manufacturing facility.

The cause of the fire that engulfed the warehouse owned by company Morgan Li on Monday is still under investigation by Chicago Heights fire and police departments, as well as the Illinois Fire Marshal and ATF, said Kim Nerheim, of the Chicago office of ATF.

The company issued a statement on social media, saying no one was injured and vowing to rebuild.

"While the damage of the fire is massive, the most important thing is that all our people are safe and accounted for," the company said.

"Morgan Li is a family-owned and run business and we consider all our employees an extension of our family; we will do everything we can to rebuild what was lost and continue to support our people and the entire Chicago Heights community," it said in the statement.

Morgan Li originated in Chicago Heights in 1943, as Par Steel Products & Adjustable Shelving, according to its website. The company offers custom design, fabrication and installation of fixtures, furniture and graphics. Its clients include such names as Walmart, Gap, Old Navy and The Ritz-Carlton.
