Boy, 14, Charged With Murder In 'Ambush' Shooting

A teen boy was formally charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the Dec. 30 shooting of a 25-year-old Indiana man.

UNINCORPORATED CRETE TOWNSHIP, IL — A 14-year-old boy has been charged with first-degree murder in what police called an ambush shooting of an Indiana man Dec. 30, after the man had driven to a drop spot to sell the teen "a large quantity of marijuana."

Will County SWAT officers Thursday descended to execute a search warrant in the 26300 block of Greenwood Avenue, where they recovered "numerous items of evidentiary value," including a ".40 caliber pistol and ammunition matching that found at the scene of the shooting, police said. The gun and ammunition were found hidden in the teen's bedroom, police said. The gun was discovered to be stolen from a residence in Naperville.

Police last week said shooting victim Chave Bradley, 25, was sitting in his car near 263rd and Greenwood when he was "ambushed from behind," with multiple gunshots fired into the back of his vehicle. He sped away from the scene, crashing into nearby parked cars, police said, as "as the 14-year-old suspect began shooting in the direction of his vehicle."
