Chicago Road To Temporarily Close For Repairs
The road closure will start at 9 a.m. Nov. 1.
CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Thursday that repairs to the Canadian National Railroad crossing on Chicago Road (Illinois 1), north of 23rd Street, in Chicago Heights, will require a full closure starting, weather permitting, 9 a.m., Nov. 1.
According to a news release, a detour will direct motorists to U.S. 30 (Lincoln Highway), State Street and 26th Street. The work is expected to be complete by 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 7.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area, the release states. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to detour signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
