At Least 18 Vehicles Involved In Matteson Crash: State Police
The State Police is assisting with investigating the crash, which took place on Vollmer Road on an I-57 overpass amid snowy conditions.

MATTESON, IL —A crash involving more than 18 vehicles on Tuesday night snarled traffic on I-57 Tuesday night when the region was dealing with the season’s first snowfall, the Illinois State Police said in a news release.
The crash took place on Vollmer Road on the expressway overpass, according to the state police, which said it was assisting Matteson Police in dealing with the crash, which remains under investigation.
Matteson Police officials did not immediately respond to a message from Patch on Wednesday morning seeking more information on the crash.

It is not immediately known what injuries were created by the crash and police did not provide comment on what caused the crash. However, the accident was one of several reported around the greater Chicago area due to wintery conditions that extended into Wednesday.
Police reported icy conditions which they said caused several crashes and vehicles around the region after Tuesday’s snow and cold temperatures were reported throughout the region.
