Man, 30, Seen Sipping Hennessy While Crossing Street Nabbed On Gun Charges: Cook County Sheriff
The Ford Heights man was drinking from a bottle of Hennessy and a vodka cocktail when sheriff's police pulled up, and he ran, police said.

FORD HEIGHTS, IL β A 30-year-old Ford Heights man who was seen by Cook County Sheriff's police crossing the street while holding two open alcoholic beverages has been charged with a weapons violation, after police say they found him with a stolen firearm.
At approximately 5 p.m. Oct. 30, police say Sheriffβs Police Organized Crime Division investigators saw a man crossing the street at Woodland Avenue and 13th Place in Ford Heights, sipping from a bottle of Hennessy and a canned vodka cocktail. When the investigators pulled up to the man in their vehicle, he ran away, dropping the beverages and clutching his pants, officials said.
Investigators took him into custody in the 1400 block of East 13th Street after a short pursuit.

While conducting a safety pat-down of the man, identified as Kyri Johnson, police say investigators recovered a loaded firearm. They learned Johnson was a convicted felon, and the gun had been reported stolen from Bargersville, Indiana. The investigators also located the dropped drinks.

The Cook County Stateβs Attorneyβs Office approved a felon in possession of a weapon charge against Johnson.

Johnson, who also has an active criminal drug case, appeared at the Markham Courthouse on Oct. 31 for his initial hearing, where he was ordered to Cook County Jail custody.
