Sen. Toi Hutchinson Hosts Summer Reading Program, Pizza Party

Kids who read eight books by August 19 can celebrate with a pizza party hosted by state Sen. Toi Hutchinson.

PARK FOREST, IL — Illinois State Senator Toi Hutchinson is hosting a pizza party for students in her district who reads 8 books or more by August 19.

The summer reading program is open to all school-aged children in the 40th state senate district. Families can fill out the form found either at their local libraries or online. After a child has read eight books, he or she should have a parent or guardian sign a form and mail it to the senator’s office. Those who have mailed the form by the August 19 deadline will receive an invitation to a pizza party held in September. Please note the deadline has been extended from the original date listed on the form.

“Books have always held a special place in my heart," Hutchinson said in a statement. "As a senator and a mother, I’ve seen the profoundly positive effect that reading can have in fostering a child’s intellectual curiosity and development."
