1 Critically Injured, DUI Charge Filed In Early Morning Collision In Crystal Lake
The driver of a Toyota pickup, which crashed into a tree early Friday, has been charged with DUI. Three were injured in the crash.
CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Three people were injured in a collision early Friday in Crystal Lake.
The collision happened at about 12:55 a.m. on Friday on Crystal Ridge Drive at Carmella Drive when a Toyota pickup truck headed west on Crystal Ridge Drive at a high rate of speed went off the roadway and hit a tree, according to a news release from the Crystal Lake Police Department.
The driver sustained critical injuries and was taken by helicopter to a hospital. He remains in critical condition, according to authorities.

A passenger in the car was also taken be helicopter to the hospital and is in stable condition, according to the news release. A second passenger in the car sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening and was taken to a local hospital.
Meanwhile, the driver in the collision, who has been identified as Harrison G. Pellikan, 23, of Crystal Lake, was arrested and has been charged with DUI, DUI with BAC over .08, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and transportation or possession of alcohol liquor in a motor vehicle.

A portion of the road was shut down for three hours as crash investigators remained at the scene. And the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Police are asking anyone who may have information regarding the crash to call the Crystal Lake Police Department at 815-356-3620. In addition, anyone with a cell phone can send an anonymous tip to the Crystal Lake Police Department by texting the word CLPDTIP along with the tip information to 847411 (tip411).
