1 In Custody After Standoff In McHenry
Patrick J. Anderson, 44, of McHenry, has been arrested and charged in connection with the Thursday incident.
MCHENRY, IL — A 44-year-old McHenry man accused of burglarizing homes in McHenry is in custody following a massive police response and hours-long standoff Thursday, police said.
Patrick J. Anderson, 44, of the 3400 block of Venice Avenue in McHenry, was arrested and charged with two counts of residential burglary, obstructing justice, resisting a police officer and criminal damage to property, according to a news release from the McHenry Police Department.
His arrest came after police responded to his home amid a residential burglary investigation. When officers arrived at his residence on Thursday, Anderson went inside and refused to come back out, according to police.

The incident drew a large police presence to the McHenry neighborhood, and also the Emergency Services Team of the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System SWAT team, authorities said. Police requested additional SWAT assistance after learning Anderson, a convicted felon with a history of resisting police, may have a gun, according to the news release.
Police entered the home and took Anderson into custody. No one was injured in the incident, police said.

Burglary Investigation
Police responded to Anderson's home on Thursday after linking him to a burglary that happened in the 1200 block of North Green Street that morning. Police said a burglary happened at the same home on Monday.
Police went to Anderson's home soon after learning about the second burglary, according to authorities.
Anderson is in custody Friday morning in connection with the burglary charges as well as charges related to the SWAT incident. An investigation continues into the incidents, and more charges are possible, police said.
