1 Killed, 1 Hospitalized In Early-Morning Crystal Lake House Fire

Gusty wind conditions caused the fire to spread through the Oriole Trail home early Sunday when one person was found dead in the home.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — One person was killed, and another was hospitalized early Sunday morning after a house caught fire as high winds contributed to the cause of the blaze, Crystal Lake fire officials said.

Officials have not provided any details of the person who was found dead inside the home, which is located in the 400 block of South Oriole Trail. The fire broke out at 2:43 a.m. Sunday and firefighters were able to rescue one person who was trapped on the second floor of the home, officials said in a news release on Sunday. That person was taken to a local hospital for injuries related to smoke inhalation.

Flames were reported coming out of the first floor of the home near the back of the residence, fire officials said. Additional fire crews began a search of both floors and found the person who died in the fire on the first floor, officials said. No firefighters were injured in the blaze.
