2 Rescued, 1 Treated For Hypothermia After Being Pulled From Fox River
A man jumped into the Fox River in McHenry over the weekend to help get another man out.
MCHENRY, IL — A man was treated for hypothermia after being rescued from the Fox River in McHenry over the weekend.
Rescue crews were called to the 1400 block of North River Road on Saturday after learning there were two men in the Fox River who were not able to get out. The McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded within four minutes and found the two men clinging to a pier, according to a news release from the fire protection district.
Rescue crews got into the river in their cold water rescue gear and got both men out.

One man was immediately taken to a waiting ambulance and treated for hypothermia. He was taken to Northwestern Hospital in McHenry in good condition.
The second man refused treatment.

An investigation into the incident revealed one of the men accidentally fell from a pier into the water and a second man jumped into the water to try and help him, according to the news release. Due to th waters low temperatures, neither person was able to get out of the river.
