11 Crystal Lake Homes Damaged By Heat From Controlled Burn

The prescribed burn melted the siding on houses adjacent to the fire.

A controlled burn April 14 in Crystal Lake melted the siding of 11 houses on Wheatland Drive, the Chicago Tribune is reporting.

“Deputy Fire Chief Chris Olsen confirmed that the company that conducted the burn was McGinty Bros. Inc., based in Long Grove, and that the company had been contracted by the homeowners association of the Harvest Run subdivision, where the damaged homes are located,” the Tribune is reporting.

Olsen told the Tribune the department was still investigating why the fire apparently got out of hand.
