2 Arrested For Stealing From Walgreens Stores In Lake, McHenry Counties

The duo is also suspected of stealing from Walgreens in Boone, Will and Kane counties, police said.

WAUCONDA, IL — Two men accused of stealing from Walgreens stores across the Chicago area have been arrested, police said.

This past week, officers with the Wauconda Police Department assisted in a "coordinated traffic stop," pulling over a white Ford Fusion that had just bene involved in a theft and located near a Walgreens by police in Island Lake, according to a news release from Wauconda Police. The vehicle is also suspected of assisting in retail thefts across Lake, McHenry, Boone, Will and Kane counties.

Heather Cognac, public information officer with the Wauconda Police Department, said it's unclear at this point how many total Walgreens stores the duo stole from. But police did say they have linked them to stealing from at least six stores in one day.

Wauconda Police Department K9 Syke helped round up the suspects who were identified as Donovan White and Isaiah Garrett, according to the news release.

During the stop, police recovered stolen merchandise from various Walgreens stores valued at $13,584.99. Police mainly found over-the-counter medication on them at the time of their arrest, Cognac said.

Police departments in Lake in the Hills, Gurnee, Spring Grove, Geneva, Grayslake and Lake Villa confirmed the suspects are accused of involvement in numerous thefts in their municipalities, police said.

It's unclear for how long the crime spree was going on, Cognac said.

More police agencies are also looking into filing charges or requesting arrest warrants in the case, authorities said.
