2 Burglars On The Lam After Stealing ATM From Kane Co. Bar: Cops

The Pingree Grove Police Department is investigating the burglary, which happened early Sunday at Outpost Tavern and Grill.

PINGREE GROVE, IL — Police are searching for two burglars accused of stealing the cash box from the ATM of a Pingree Grove bar and restaurant over the weekend. Meanwhile, a third alleged burglar has been hospitalized in critical condition.

The trio is accused of breaking a window at the Outpost Tavern and Grill, at 40W825 Oak Street in Pingree Grove, early on Sunday, and damaging an ATM at the business. They then stole a cash box from inside the ATM and fled on foot, police said.

The Pingree Grove Police Department responded to a burglary alarm at the business at 4 a.m. Sunday. Kane County Sheriff's Office deputies, who happened to be in the area at the same time, saw a white van fleeing from the area and pursued the vehicle, according to a news release from the police department.

The van crashed on Route 20 between Highland Woods Boulevard and Coombs Road, according to police. Two suspects fled on foot south from the area, police said Sunday.

A third suspect was apprehended and taken to the hospital with critical injuries, according to a news release.

Police said Sunday the two suspects were still on the lam, and the burglary remained under investigation. As of Monday morning it was unclear if that was still the case.
