2 Homes Uninhabitable After Crystal Lake Fire

A fire broke out early Wednesday at a complex at 736 Elletson Drive in Crystal Lake.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Two residences are uninhabitable following an early morning fire in Crystal Lake, fire officials said.

The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department was called to the blaze at 736 Elletson Drive at about 1:30 a.m. after visible flames were reported coming from an attached garage, which was located among a row of four attached residences, according to a news release from the fire rescue department.

All residents and animals inside the homes were able to evacuate before fire crews arrived at the scene.

The blaze damaged two residences, which have been deemed uninhabitable. The Red Cross is working with the displaced families to find them a home.

No firefighters or residents were injured during the incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office.
