2 Hospitalized After Semi Collides With Sedan On Route 176: Police

The semi-truck driver, a Wisconsin man, was cited for disregarding a traffic control device, police said.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Two people were taken to the hospital after a semi collided with a sedan on Route 176 Wednesday morning, police said.

The crash happened at about 7:20 a.m. when the semi-truck, which was headed east on Route 176 through the intersection of 176 and Haligus Road, collided with a sedan, according to a news release from the Crystal Lake Police Department. The semi overturned following the collision, spilling gravel onto the roadway.

Both drivers were taken to hospitals for treatment of injuries that are not considered life-threatening. Meanwhile, the semi-truck driver, who is from Elkhorn, Wisconsin, was cited for disregarding a traffic control device, police said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
