2 Men Arrested On Drug, Weapons Charges

MCHENRY, IL — Authorities took two men into custody Wednesday following a search of a home in the 5000 block of Home Avenue in McHenry.

Jimmy Diaz, 59, of McHenry, and Rene R. Barrera Jr., 37, of McHenry, both face drug and weapons charges following their arrests.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force, SWAT Team, Crystal Lake Police Department and McHenry Police Department served the search warrant at the home, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Diaz faces two counts of felon possession or use weapon/firearm/ammo, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and resist or obstruct a police officer.

Meanwhile, Barrera has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession controlled substance, obstructing justice - tamper with evidence/false information, possession of firearm - no valid FOID card, possession of ammunition - no valid FOID card and resist or obstruct police officer.
