Women Attacked on Bike Trail Released From Hospital
Police are searching for the suspect described in the reported attack.
CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — The two women attacked on a Crystal Lake bike trail Tuesday have been released from the hospital. Meanwhile, police are searching for a suspect or suspects who carried out the attack on the Ridgefield Trace bike trail.
The Crystal Lake Police Department is working with McHenry County Conservation Police to investigate the incident, according to a statement Wednesday from the Crystal Lake Police Department. The department also said detectives are "providing any and all assistance requested to help bring this event to a successful conclusion."
Police have also added officers to patrol the city's bike paths.

According to several reports, two women were hurt during the assault Tuesday on the Crystal Lake bike trail. The McHenry County Conservation District Police Department said the attack happened at about 5:15 p.m. on Ridgefield Trace bike trail near Oak Street and Ridgefield Trace Road, according to the Daily Herald.
A witness claimed a man on a bike was hitting one of the woman with a hammer and then beat another woman who was trying to stop the attack. However, police haven't confirmed the hammer attack detail, according WLS. The two victims were taken to a local hospital with injuries, the Daily Herald added.

The suspect is described as a Filipino or Hispanic man in his mid-50s, with a stocky build, a clean-shaven face and wearing "dirty" jeans, a forest green sweatshirt, and a Green Bay Packers hat.
Anyone with information is urged to call the McHenry County Conservation Police at 815-338-6223, ext. 1210 from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on weekdays, and the McHenry County Sheriff's Office at 815-338-2144 during after hours. Tips can be reported anonymously to the Crystal Lake Police Department by texting the word CLPDTIP along with the tip information to 847411 (tip411).
